About
I like chasing light to capture just right moments. Growing up I always wanted a camera. Not sure if was fascination with the (analog/manual) mechanical gadgetness, a delicate attention to detail or the desire to express myself and reflect upon the world; all of these eventually. It began as an undergraduate at UVM circa 1986 with a Pentax K1000 and grew up with Nikons Fs. The unforgiving world of analog black and white film and darkroom was my first love of the landscapes, abstract inquiry and candid musician documentary. My studies of resource studies pushed me into the world of color and I was inspired by the works of Galen Rowell. I was on a mission to capture the landscape in vivid detail. The acme of my success was in Peace Corps Ecuador as a photojournalist in Peace Corps in Ecuador to document the beauty and fragility of the national parks. Progress once measured by slideshow applause gave way to fine art on the wall and embrace of the digital turn. Stints as a wedding photographer, photo vacations and family have become my 'regular' assignments as I pursue my academic career as a geographer. Most recently, I have reinvested in analog (B&W film) and installed a darkroom in my basement. With picfair you can enjoy highlights from my of my forty five years of enthusiastic photography and invite you to make it your own.
